4. The iconic Tugu Monas

Now we will take a look at the most iconic monument in Jakarta, Indonesia. The National Monument (Monumen Nasional abbreviated as Monas) is a tower of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta where is located in the center of Merdeka Square in the city, Tugu Monas is 132 metres tall symbolizing the fight for Indonesia built to commemorate the struggle for Indonesian independence, with a crown of flames made of gold at the very top. The monument and museum are open daily from 08.00 – 15.00 Western Indonesian Time (GMT +7).



5. Rich cultures and traditions

One of the richness of Indonesian culture is Wayang, the theatrical shadow puppets performance, the puppet itself is named as Wayang. This kind of performance is popular in Java and Bali. The Indonesian Batik patterns usually symbolizes something valuable, many kind of patters signing various meaning, for the example the Sido Mukti pattern is worn by a couple of newlywed to sign the prosperity and happiness, the royalties uses Kawung motif pattern to symbolize justice and power, ordinary people are forbidden to wear this special Batik pattern).
